LOW BUDGET OFFICE DECORATION: IT’S NEVER BEEN EASIER!

By Diana Smith

You are a successful entrepreneur with a vision and you obviously need a matching office to go with. The problem kicks in the moment you realize your budget is way tighter than you initially expected it to be. Worry no more! We have some helpful advice that will make your office look amazing without having to spend large amounts of money on it.

1) BE RESOURCEFUL

The best way to stay on your budget is to be smart and resourceful. We suggest you make a list of all things you already have and those you don’t.  As for pieces of furniture you’ve already got:

– Reuse or refinish them in such a way they get a new look or serve a new purpose. For example, refinishing wooden desks and chairs with a fresh paint in a different color may change the overall look of your office without you having to spend a fortune on new furniture.

– Use old yet interesting/pretty coffee mugs or smaller flowerpots as pen holders.

– Paint frames of pin boards in one color and the inside panels in other to give your office a hip, interesting spin.

– Ask your friends if they’ve got some furniture they don’t use and that would go with the style of your office. Also, if there is anything in your home that would look great in your office, use it!

As for pieces you haven’t got but need, the most important thing is to set a budget and not go over it. It’s in your personal interest not to splurge, no matter how tempting it may be. Save as much money as you can, i.e. use it for items you actually need (new computers, shelves and similar).

2) WALLS

Even though painting the walls a new color seems an obvious solution to changing the interior décor, most of us often skip it and God knows why. Most interior designers agree that a new coat of paint can entirely change the vibe of the whole office and give completely different, fresh aura to the work environment. Maybe you could even have your company’s logo done in paint. And… it doesn’t harm that wall paint is pretty inexpensive, right?

3) SHELVES

Shelves are yet another way to give your office a fresh look. Install shelves in such a way they go with the overall office design and then decorate them with plants, books, picture frames and anything that feels right for the office.

4) WALL STICKERS/MURALS/DECORATIONS

If you haven’t noticed, last couple of season’s wall stickers have gone big! Apparently they have become almost every designer’s favourite choice to give a space the owner’s a personal touch and make it a wonderful environment to be in. You could do the same. Wall stickers are much cheaper than wallpapers, plus – they are custom-made, so they can be of any color and design that you want! Dots, stripes, quotes, a night in Paris – you name it! Maybe have your work-mantra on the wall? Why not! Also, if you are not a fan of stickers, you can go with murals. Ask some of your artistic friends to help out or try and work out a discount with the decorating firm.

5) PLANTS

Have greenery in your office to give your work environment a clean and fresh vibe. Plants are inexpensive decoration and can be found not only in flower shops but in local discount stores and nurseries, too.
